1777: France officially recognizes the United States' independence.
1903: Orville Wright makes the first successful flight in an airplane with a gasoline engine at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, covering 37 m (120 ft) in a flight lasting just 12 seconds.
1941: Rear Admiral Chester Nimitz takes command of the U.S. Pacific Fleet.
1963: The U.S. Congress passes the Clean Air Act, a sweeping set of laws designed to protect the environment from air pollution.

Annual Meeting Rotary Year Arlington 2007–2008 called to order by Ken. He then presented the nominating Committee Report:

No other nominations forth coming Ken asked for a motion that one ballot be cast for the entire slate of nominees, so moved by Bill Cronin, seconded by Betsey McDaniel and unanimous vote by members.
30th annual Road Race will be held Sunday June 1st and will segue into a Family Day at the Recreation Department at Summer Street Field at a date to be determined in the Fall.
Evan will be the Game master, first position filled already, but don’t worry there are plenty more to go.

Party was a great time plenty of really good food and drink and the Pats won and many nice gifts were exchanged some more than once at the Yankee Swap.
Speaker Today Timothy Patrick McCarthy of the Harvard Kennedy School spoke on “Political Primaries and Media Coverage”
His remarks were much more then the title implies and as a result his presentation gave us a whole new perspective on the political process
