Quote of the Day

False words are not only evil in themselves, but they infect the soul with evil.
Socrates

Today in History

1486: King Henry VII of England marries Elizabeth of York, the daughter of Edward IV, hoping to unite Yorkist and Lancastrian claims to the throne in his Tudor dynasty.
1778: Captain James Cook discovers the “Sandwich Islands,” which are later renamed the Hawaiian Islands.
1896: The X-ray machine is first exhibited in New York City. The X in the name is used because of the initial mystery of what type of ray it is.
1912: Captain Robert Scott reaches the South Pole in a quest to be the first person to do so. Unfortunately, a month earlier, Roald Amundsen had already achieved that goal.
1996: Michael Jackson's marriage to Lisa Marie Presley ends in divorce after two years.

Check it out at http://arlrotary.org/ Marty closed the meeting by humming the dangerous theme, as in little knowledge is a dangerous thing. You too can become dangerous by attending the next meeting (TBA).

Betsey followed with finalized issues on the “Pot of Gold”: $35.00 per person, each member provide $10.00 worth of Scratch Tickets, in any assortment from 1 to 10 and if possible a Prize for the Silent Auction, Caterer confirmed, DJ confirmed and Date, Time and Place, Friday March 17th at 7:00 PM at the Sons of Italy on Prentiss Street confirmed, opposite RCN Building on Mass Avenue.

Bill Reports SA Dave will not be with us today, because he has to go to Banker's school, which he does once a month for three successive months every decade or so. So no fines today, he sends word next week the honeymoon is over.

Our speaker today, Ambassadorial Scholar Natasha Llorens. She will attend college in either Amsterdam or Stockholm; she has lived abroad in both Europe and North Africa (Morocco).

She has a BA Simon Rock College in Aesthetic Philosophy and her goal on return from this year abroad is to earn a PHD in Art History from MIT. She is not an Artist, but obviously is intensely interested in Art and Artists. Natasha has two long term goals (20 years): to start an Artists in Residence and provide Artists the opportunity to travel and study at various places around the world.
